I used "PayPal Here" for two weekend shows in a row and I would suggest anyone considering this system to wait a few months until the bugs are out. I am using the new iPad and when you swipe the card it goes to the signature page if the card swipe takes. After the signature the customer can send the receipt to their phone or email, plus the option of no receipt. It is convenient to go to the sales page and check your charges during the day and this is where my problems showed up. All the charges had a green check mark beside them except one, which had a gray circle instead of the check mark. The charge was for $47 and change and I fooled around with it and it went away, and I thought maybe I had done something wrong. This past weekend I was checking my charges and had another one for $96,08 that had the gray circle beside it. I tried to get the charge to go through and it went away. I called PayPal and their supervisor told me that I had not swiped the card, which was incorrect. I explained that the signature page would not come up if the card is not read. Anyway he pretty much blew me off. I had another charge do the same thing later in the day and called them back. This time the charge was still on my iPad and they could see it in their system but did not have the card swipe, I was told that I had not swiped the card, however there is no way one can enter a charge amount and have it captured on their servers without swiping a card or doing a manual entry. Square and Intuit systems both save the customers email address or phone number, which PayPal does not do. If this had happened on their system I could have contacted the customer. With the Square and Intuit systems a vendor can develop an email list of customers that can be contacted for future events. I inquired how I would be able to provide proof of a customer charge if they disputed the transaction and the information is not available to the vendor. They could not give me a definitive answer.

Before signing up for PayPal’s service find out if these issues have been corrected.
