How to Track Your Google+ Competition With SumAll

After learning how your website stacks up against your competitor’s,you can now take it a step further to see if your social media presence is getting attention or if your rival is getting all the love.

Anyone with a SumAll account can connect to Google+, input any competitor’s Google+ Page name, and track People, Publishing Activity, and Advocacy Activity. Let’s go through how to connect Google+ and what some of those terms mean.

1. Select Google+ from the Platforms Page and click the "Connect Google+" button.

2. Select "Connect Google+ Page".

3. Type in the name of the website you wish to track (most likely your own).

4. Click "Connect another Google+" and enter your competitor’s Page name.

5. Track the results.

Once again your Google+ Page, Raging Daisies, is put head-to-head with the rival florist, Coming Up Daisies. The metric that is displayed, Advocacy Activity, is a great measure of how engaged your audience is with your brand. Advocacy Activity is an aggregate of +1’s, comments, and reshares which can be filtered down to each individual stat. As you can see, you consistently have a higher Advocacy Activity than your competitor meaning your Google+ fans are much more likely to engage with your posts and share it with their own friends.

Other types of data you can track is People, which is the total number Google+ users in your circle. Publishing Activity is the total number of times you’ve posted or shared content to your Page.
