Baseball, Big Data, and SumAll

The baseball playoffs are upon us and the most improbable story of the season are the Oakland A's journey from underdogs without a shot at making it to the postseason to champions of the American League West. With the lowest opening day payroll in the AL, the A's defied all expectations and in the process have repeated history.

One of our lead engineers, Jamie, is a lifelong A's fan and data guru so naturally he made the connection between analytics and making shrewd but data-backed business decisions. At SumAll, we're working to provide everyone with data that can be used to make smart, informed decisions. The A's season is one example of the power that data has.

The whole piece is worth a read.
