Quick Tips for Building External Links to Enterprise Websites

  1. Get local listings. In a content-crowded world, customers will gravitate towards information that’s visible and useful. If you have a physical location for your business, your first stop should be to set up local profiles on sites like Yelp, Merchant Circle, YellowPages, and similar. These will help boost your local search order of appearance as well as provide a new link back to your website.

  2. Share your content socially. Editorial links from blog posts are generally considered high quality. These are not links you buy from a blog network or offer to pay for directly with a blogger, but links that blog authors include in their post because they like something on your website. If your business has a blog, then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be spreading its reach through social media.

  3. Get into the guest post groove. Guest posting (also known as guest blogging) is simply taking unique, unpublished content that you have created and instead of putting it on your blog, placing it on another blog instead. If you find active blogs whose audiences match your target demographic and submit non-promotional, valuable content to them, you will gain links, exposure for your business, and traffic.

  4. Understand your business in context. It can become tedious to switch from one Google Analytics profile to the next, noting changes in traffic volume, new sources of referral traffic, improvements in bounce rate, and other data you want to keep track of in order to make sure your online marketing efforts are working. When you have all your data in one place, it’s easy to keep track of all your efforts and see how they are working concordantly with each other get insights across your entire business.
