Customer Stories Worth Spreading

We love our customers and the stories that have chiseled their entrepreneurial spirit. It inspires us so much that we feel like their stories are worth spreading to other people who are either contemplating on pursuing their own business or taking their current vocation and shifting it up a gear. Last month it was Julie at Greenpoint's beloved In God We Trust and this month it was Isaac at the spectacular and internationally known roasting plant of La Colombe.

We never tire of inspirational stories so send us a note to support@sumall.com if you're in the NYC area and we'll pay you a visit and make sure your story gets heard.

The Future of Data is Connected

Your data shouldn't exist in silos.

Data seems like an amorphous structure of numbers and symbols akin to a cipher, impossible to crack. Because of the complexity of analyzing data most people are deterred from looking at it altogether, choosing to go with their gut instinct and prior held beliefs on how to properly manage their business. And even when business operators want to look at their data, it's unnecessarily hard to obtain.

With this in mind, SumAll was founded. For the past year and a half we've worked impossibly hard to unveil the power of data. Making data engrossing, affordable, and accessible is the motivating factor for all of us at SumAll and we are overjoyed to announce that we'll be able to keep doing it for the foreseeable future. Battery Ventures, with the participation of Wellington Partners, completed an investment round of $6 million with $500,000 going to SumAll.org, our non-profit foundation. With the advent of this funding we are thrilled to continue our progress in the data analytics field unbridled as well as give back to those less fortunate. Connected data is the future of analytics; bringing together disparate sources of data and making it visible and digestible on one chart is an extremely powerful tool for anyone who wants to make quicker, smarter decisions.

The data analytics landscape is ripe to be redesigned and we're happy to be at the forefront.

Sandy Aftermath and How to Help

Just over two weeks ago Hurricane Sandy battered the Eastern Seaboard leaving catastrophic damage in its wake. Hundreds of thousands without power, houses and communities destroyed, and lives lost. Lower Manhattan was effectively in darkness for a week while portions of the country are still without power today as a result of the storm. It's easy to forget people are still enduring the aftermath of Sandy if you're back to your normal routine. But there are people still struggling, who've had their homes literally carried out to sea and need basic supplies like hats, coats, and food items.

SumAll.org was established with the mantra to do good by doing right. With ten percent of SumAll's ownership allocated to our non-profit, SumAll.org is not only an extension of our company philosophy, but a continuation of the values every individual possesses who works here. When we saw the destruction the storm caused we decided to set up our office as a haven for donations. In our first week we received an overwhelming response with people dropping off a wide range of essential items. Because of the success, we're continuing to accept donations for the victims of Sandy to help in every way we can. To learn more, visit SumAll.org.

What’s the ROI of Your Instagram Shots?

Instagram joins our growing list of social platforms alongside Twitter and Facebook in our mission to have all of your most important data propagated in our chart. So what kind of data can you see when you hook up your Instagram account with us? For starters, see the amount of followers you've gained each day and correlate that with advocacy activity to see if all those photo 'likes' are increasing your followers count. Advocacy activity is the amount of likes and comments your photos receive – which you can filter down. You can also see how many images you post a day and what the top ten photo filters you use are. Pull up your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram with your Google Analytics to get the full picture on how much traffic your social activity is really directing. All on one chart

Should I Be Paying to Advertise?

It seems like paid advertising has become commonplace; it's a given that if you want to attract more customers and increase your visibility, running advertisements on websites is a good way to do it. With the emergence of Google AdWords and Facebook advertising, it's incredibly easy to create an account and start paying for clicks. But the salient question is this: Are paid advertisements an effective way to bring in new customers and increase revenue or is it a money dump?
